Lately I've gotten a couple of questions about missing Language Bar after installing Japanese IME onto Windows XP.
There are some settings you should check out on this trouble,
1. Rigional and Language Option
Click on Regional and Language Option > Language > Details > Language Bar
Make sure both "Show the Language bar・・・" and "Show additona Lanugage bar・・・" are CHECKED.
If they are already checked, try uncheck and check then click on OK button.
2. Registry
Start > Run, and type regedit. Locate the following registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER and make sure
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Input Method Show Status Value is 1
3. Advanced Text Service
Click on Regional and Language Option > Language > Details > Language Bar
Make sure "Turn off advanced・・・" is unchecked
↓ This setting is WRONG!!
If you see ctfmon.exe in the Processes of Task Manager, Advanced Text service is being executed when your PC starts.
If these settings doesn't fix your problem, I recommend to re-install Windows XP, apply SP1/SP2 and install IME. And then make sure that Language bar shows up before you install other software.
